  This is a review of a Robert Cray show I did last August at The Music Mill In Indianapolis. "Young Bob" has been my personal Favourite Blues Guitarist since I first heard Smoking Gun on MTV back in the 1980's, so it was a pleasure to get to see him in concert again. The last time was ten long years ago at The Vogue. Mike Milligan and Steam Shovel from Kokomo opened with a solid set of blues, obviously influenced by Stevie Ray but he's no Vaughn-a-be! He also made time to speak and sign for everyone after the show, nice guy as well; he's well worth checking out if you get the chance. Robert Cray hit the stage about 9:30 with a hot version of I Guess I Showed Her From the Strong Persuader album. From that point to the time he shut it down about 90 minutes later with Sitting On Top Of The World he was in total control of The Music Mill's patrons. The band seemed to be having a good night; there were smiles all around and some joking around between and even during songs. I'm sure they have played this material a thousand times but it never felt like they were going through the motions. Jim Pugh on keys was the cornerstone of the band, taking every solo further than the last. Kevin Hayes was the drummer and Karl Sevareid played Bass. The setlist was very similar to their latest CD “Live From Across The Pond.
