Robert Cray once again shared the stage with rock legend Eric Clapton at Clapton’s third Crossroads Guitar Festival last Saturday. A variety of handpicked guitarists by Clapton himself played alongside a spectacular gathering of rock legends from across the generations of the guitar world. Cray, who has played at the two previous Crossroads in 2004 and 2007 and has since toured with Clapton, was once again been invited as a showcased artist for the 2010 festival in Chicago.

“It’s just an honor to be a part of it, with all those great players,” Cray said.
Showcases artists received further recognition when Clapton declared to the audience that each showcased artist was of the very best and had earned his respect in 2007.
More important to the Cray and the musicians, Cray said, is the opportunity to support the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a nonprofit drug and alcohol rehabilitation center founded by Clapton in 1997.

“Everyone is coming in and supporting Eric with the Crossroads thing. It’s just an honor to be a part of it, with all those great players,” Cray said according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Proceeds from this and previous Crossroads Guitar Festivals benefit the Centre’s efforts.

This year, however, efforts are expanding to gain more supporters than just those who could attend the Festival. Clapton’s Crossroads 2010 will be shared with a broader audience with the release of a two hour HD film.. On July 27, fans around the country have the chance to experience many of the greatest moments from the legendary day-long festival, including performances by Clapton, ZZ Top, Steve Winwood, BB King, Jeff Beck, Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, and Bill Murray in 475 theaters nationwide.
