The number one website for musicians, MusicRader.com, had a chance to interview Robert Cray for their Blues Week. Cray takes a break from his relentless touring schedule to reflect on his career as a blues musician. “I’ve got the blues for life. I don’t even think about topping the charts anymore. I play the music I want, with people I want, to fans that want to hear it. If you ask me, that’s not a bad gig” says Cray in good humor in response to a question about his days featured on MTV. Cray talks about his various influences, citing his parents as huge influences on his musical taste. A consummate performer, he talks about continuously improving as a player, “that’s the fun part, the getting there. You never really get there all the way. What’s even more fun is when you’re challenged on stage in front of an audience. Once a song starts, if you can take an audience with you, that’s the adventure”.
